Are you able to confirm if your cat is desexed and whether he sprays or elevates his bum when he pees?
Spraying is a behavior in which a cat backs up to a vertical surface, stands upright with a quivering tail raised high, and then directs a concentrated stream of strong-smelling urine backwards. It’s different from typical squatting urination.
Male cats typically spray due to stress, anxiety, territorial threats, dissatisfaction with the litter tray and medical issues. It’s essential to have your vet perform a urinalysis and, based on its results, possibly a urine culture.
Meanwhile, you can create a spraying station as shown below, or replace your litter tray with a round litter box pictured here.
